I had the wonderful opportunity to work this magnificent, polite and wonderful stallion soon after he arrived in Australia. His new owner couldn't wait to get his shoes off when he arrived and return his hooves to beautiful, healthy and strong feet!
Below is a pictorial of the last 10 weeks - a total of three trims! He was
100% sound and in work from the day his shoes were pulled.
Pre-trim/shoe removal - Nov 2009 Notice the brace in the body, leaning forward
and
unweighting the heels.
Post trim - 3 trims later January 2010 No more bracing through the body standing square with
front legs straight no longer leaning forward.
Near Fore Shod and Shoe removal - November 2009 You will note the excess walls, bars and soft sole, along with the
poor quality frog.
There were also excessively high heels.
January 2010 - 3 trims on. Note how much the frog has increased in size
now it has a job to do, along with the sole
thickening up. Below you will also see the
difference in outside hoof wall length and
shape.
A transformation into a beautiful
sound hoof!
Pre and post November 2009 to January 2010 As with the above photos you will see the same results here - this is the near hind hoof
